Can i return merchandise to target without a receipt

Tip: Create a Target account to keep track of purchases you make online, through the Target app or in-store when paying with a card connected with your Target account or Wallet. This is where the return barcodes and receipts are listed. The card is only valid for in-store purchases and cannot be used for online purchases. All is not lost, though, because Target can look up your order in a variety of ways, depending on how you paid for your purchase:.

In-store returns are refunded to Target RedCards within one to two days, while third-party credit cards can take one to three days.

Customers can return most items they purchase online to any Target store. The same in-store eligibility requirements apply as described earlier. Note: Some items are only eligible for in-store returns, which are shown on the product page online.

The retailer follows any state-ordered return restrictions if they apply. Check with the Target store nearest you for specific in-store protocols. Over the holidays, Target offers gift-givers peace of mind with their purchases. For purchases made from Oct. The extended countdown clock allows the gift recipient the same return timeframe as any other Target purchase throughout the year for deciding whether they want to keep an item or return or exchange it for something else.

Holiday items and limited-time-only collections may have a modified return policy, too. Most Target merchandise qualifies for returns or exchanges for up to 90 days, or days for Target RedCard users. Target gives the gift of confidence with every beauty product purchased, both online and in stores. The clothing category return policy works just like the other regular Target categories.

Customers have 90 days to return or exchange an item, while Target RedCard users have up to days. If you are a Target Circle account holder and used this account for the purchase, it will show up under your account on the Target app—simply navigate to the orders tab to view your purchase history.

Note that Target gift card transactions and cash-based purchases are not available for at-home lookup. Target accepts three main forms of proof of purchase: receipts, return barcodes, and packing slips.

If you have a return barcode or packing slip for the item to be returned, you can bring it along and have the return processed without the receipt.

Target typically issues refunds directly onto the debit or credit card used for the purchase, even if the item is returned without a receipt. If a Target gift card was used, you can request cashback for your refund in the form of another gift card. However, in some situations Target will issue your refund in the form of a merchandise return card—this occurs when you have no proof of purchase at all.

If Target does not accept your return request without a receipt, you can try reselling the item, gifting it to someone else, or keeping it as the last resort. Other than that, Target also cannot return items without a receipt if these were bought with cash, as they cannot look up the unique return barcode of your order. Target owned brands, there are over 40 of them, are returnable within an astounding 1 year of the purchase date. If the product is still eligible for a return, you can bring it back to Target for an exchange or refund in most cases.

Would you be stoked to get a return window of days rather than the standard 90 days? If so, you should consider applying for the Target REDcard debit or credit card as it comes with an extra 30 day return window.

Ask the Reader: Have you ever had an issue with their return policy? If so, what was it and how did it pan out? By Kyle James. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed. I unwittingly over-bought holiday items at Target during November and December. The week after Christmas, I returned unused items with the tags on and receipts. I wanted to repurchase some of them and store them for next year, as they had gone on clearance. One store let me do this, and even complimented me on the deals I was getting.

Another Target would not and was rude about it. The store that said no told me I could come back the next day and re-purchase them if they were available. Seems like a scam to let the employees have the chance to buy these items at a discount.

Why else would they refuse to let me repurchase them while they were sitting right in front of me? Do you think they will do an exchange or refund on an opened KitchenAid Mixer? The 24 hours thing is totally false. If you purchase something you can return it for your money back immediately, but it MUST be at the same store you just bought it at.

Then they will return it because if does still show up and is returnable, only thing is…if you return at a different store in the first 24 hours, the reciept would not show you returned it in their system yet….

Unless returned at the of store. Which is why you cannot return at a different location within the first 24hours. I had a problem. Bought baby items at one target. Some too small. Went to a different target to return same day so I could buy larger sizes.
